Morris League was established in 2007, by Donte and Dominic Morris and a few of their fellow students. Donte and Dominic are twin brothers who are originally from Oakland, Calif. They came to CSU Sacramento in hopes of playing baseball, their favorite sport. They have been playing baseball since they were five years old.
Donte says, "Instead of joining a local team, we decided to do it ourselves and create a fun league that players can enjoy."
Every year the Morris League hosts the Annual Negro Baseball League Game. The game's purpose to honor all of the young men who were not allowed to play and went through difficulties to play baseball due to the color of their skin.
Players such as Jackie Robinson have paved the way for other African American men to play sports on a professional level.
The Annual Negro Baseball League Game is in dedication to all of these heroes.
The 4th Annual game is to be held at Army Depot Field, Okinawa Street and Florin-Perkins Road, at 1 P.M. All of the Sacramento community is welcome to join in the fun.
